40 GSK employees from around the world will be trekking 100km in their own country. Each Trekker has committed to raising £4,500 each, in combination raising £180,000 for Save the Children, which will be matched by GSK. Over seven days, 40 100km Treks will take place spanning 23 countries.

Trek for Kids will allow me to expand the opportunities to help the kids not only with my own effort and energy, but also together with my colleagues and others to be part of the journey as well. Getting the positive energy of giving and kindness circulates within my working environment brings joy to me. Being able to help and support the children in my continents are blessings not to be taken for granted.

I have always wanted to help those in nations that do not have access to healthcare or preventative medicines. Being a part of GSK is very empowering and I try to live everyday with GSK values and dedication towards making a better world for others. It breaks my heart to know that others have no access to preventive care or healthcare just because of where they were born.

I have always dreamed of embarking on a journey to make a difference for communities that have limited resources. This trek will challenge me both physically and mentally to unleash a strength that will allow me to become a strong advocate of helping those that are suffering. I am passionate about giving children a fair chance at life and have always been a strong supporter of Save the Children.

I have a strong desire to help and make a positive impact on others, especially with underprivileged populations. I believe that all challenges make us grow and make us better, enabling us to achieve things we did not know we could achieve. This is an important priority for me, as I am working for the service of others. I love being part of Orange United’s amazing project on caring for kids all around the world.

Trek for kids is the perfect mix of values close to my heart, helping others, nature and sport. I have had the willingness to get involved in humanitarian associations for a while to give some of my time and energy. Save the children resonates with my will to help the less fortunate. I see Trek for Kids as a unique opportunity to combine my sporting aspiration and my wish to become a better citizen of the world.

My whole life as a physician has been focused on improving the lives of vulnerable populations. I was born in India & as a vaccinologist I have been working on developing vaccines for children for over 20 years. I feel that this opportunity is another practical way for me to contribute to the health of one of the most vulnerable populations

I want to better understand the work of Save The Children to improve health systems & reduce child mortality, and understand how our partnership is transforming the traditionally siloed relationship between corporates/NGOs into a meaningful collaboration that saves children’s lives. I’m keen to be an active participant in driving that positive change, not just a spectator. And I want to broaden my perspective, returning with a strengthened understanding of the realities of healthcare in Vietnam.

This is a great life opportunity to see first-hand how Save the children impact the life of the kids, a great experience for my fitness journey, and a great cause to support the children of Vietnam. I like to support children and people in need so this really define my personality. This will be a unique experience that without this opportunity through GSK I don't think I will be able to do it.

I had the privilege to be born in a very loving and doting family and had a wonderful childhood. My parents instilled in me the importance of hard work and personal growth, and the satisfaction that brings helping others. As a family, with my husband and our 14-year-old triplet boys, we´ve been involved in several charitable initiatives so they can carry on making a positive change in the world.

In both developed and developing nations around the world, it is the children who are particularly vulnerable, and this fund-raising initiative will provide me with first-hand experience of how collective effort can bring joy, hope, protection and health to the children of our future. This opportunity resonates deeply with me, and aligns with my personal values, beliefs and commitment to do more. I look forward to the challenges ahead.

I’m proud to join this challenge and make a positive impact to the lives of less privileged children. I’m also excited to turn my long-lasting love for hiking into something that will be beneficial to others and demonstrate that GSK employees look to help others through their professional life and dedicate their private time to do it as well! Having never been to Asia before, I am looking forward to building my memories in the different culture and making some new friends along the way.

Having the opportunity to raise money for Kids that need our help, to make sure they could grow up in a safe environment and get what they need to grow into our challenging and fast developing world is something I would be really proud of. Now that I am a father, I'm even more eager to help children that are not as fortunate as my son who raised in a very protected environment.

There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children. I am proud of being part of the GSK and the Save the Children challenge. My deepest will is here, with firing motive in my veins to make a difference in the lives of these kids. I hope we can give hope in their pure little hearts for a better future they dream of.

My wife’s family are from Vietnam and fled during the last war. At our wedding, I have raised funds with my wife for a local orphanage and we are still donating to support this beautiful country. Being a father of two boys, I strongly believe that I need to help in providing more opportunities to less favoured children than mine, by supporting better education and healthcare systems. I’m proud of GSK to have engaged in this partnership with Save the Children.

I have realised that, across the world, the gap between those of us who are fortunate, and those who do not have the same opportunities, is growing alarmingly. I am motivated to take part in this fantastic chance to make a difference because I have a growing yearning to make that difference, to help those who require this most - the children that this initiative will seek to help.

I am an ambassador for Orange United since many years, and I would be really happy to become part of the trek this time. I helped the previous trekkers reach their funding goals and I could experience how the efforts resulted in fruits in favour of Save the Children. I am big fan of the GSK - Save the Children collaboration, which aligns so well with my and GSK values Respect, Integrity, Transparency, and Patients first.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. Not to mention it would be an amazing experience to visit Vietnam and trek more than 100km in the challenging foothills near Sapa for such a worthy cause. Being involved in the 2021 Trek for Kids will be a wonderful extension of all the ways I have been able to advocate for children while I’ve worked at GSK.

I want to support, educate, and positively impact children in need. When I was four months old, I was adopted from South Korea and was given a new chance to have an inspiring life. I grew up in a lower-class family in Hong Kong. I realized quite early in my childhood that the way out of poverty was to study hard and to create my own future. This is my opportunity to give back to the society and to provide a future to the next generation. I want to contribute my part so that kids from any part of the world can have similar choices I had, regardless of their socio-economic background.

In 2017, I was a PULSE volunteer and was honoured to help others in Nigeria. This experience deeply moved me and really encouraged me to look for more opportunities to give something back and provide help. I was engaged in several volunteering programs during one-year sabbatical and loved the openness and gratefulness of people in return. These qualities are great inspiration for me to do more.

I have worked as a microbiologist and have an incredible passion for the work that we do as GSK and specifically within GSK Vaccines. I have always worked in manufacturing roles in my career and have had very little exposure to our customers and patients. I am very excited to see the work that is being done by Save the Children in Vietnam. I would like to give a hand to the children and their family in needs and hopefully contribute positively to their well-being. From my personal experience I can ensure that someone’s childhood can impact the rest of their lives. Now, in the middle of a great professional career, if I can do something big to help and improve some of those kids lives, nothing can make me feel better than that. I want to be there for those children that really needs support in their lives to have the same opportunities and conditions as all other children.

Serving children & creating proper atmosphere for their upbringing is simply what shapes the future so if one could make any effort that guarantees that these kids are having their basic needs to grow, he/she should go on and do it. Trek for kids is a great opportunity to ensure we’re exerting enough effort fundraising the targeted amount of money and getting to witness the reflection of this on the kids.

There are many people in this world who are not as fortunate as many of us are. The real struggle is with children as they are dependent on us even for their existence in the early years of their lives. With increasing cases of violence against children, malnourishment and lack of education, I will be honoured if I am able to make a difference to even a few of them.

I genuinely want to help children be healthy, have access to education, and have opportunities afforded to them that they would not otherwise have. This Trek for Kids has great personal significance because my brother-in-law’s parents fled Vietnam in 1980 due to the aftermath of the Vietnam War and he was born in a refugee camp in Taiwan. I hope to assist where I can and inspire others to become more involved in global charity efforts.
